Financial Products
Georgia became a member of IFC (International Finance Corporation) in 1995. As of September 30, 2007, IFC has invested $210 million in 24 projects in the financial, power, oil and gas, transportation and manufacturing sectors. IFC continues to explore investment opportunities in Georgia in partnership with strategic investors in both the financial and real sectors of the country.
Advisory Services
IFC recently launched comprehensive advisory programs with funding from the Canadian government in the areas of leasing, corporate governance, and business policies affecting small and medium enterprises. Our advisory work to stimulate the development of the leasing market focuses on improving the legislative and regulatory environment and training existing and potential leasing companies and their clients. The corporate governance program seeks to help Georgian businesses improve their corporate governance practices in order to increase their access to financing and build investor confidence. We also provide advice to the government on improving corporate governance policies and regulations. Additionally, IFC has conducted a targeted study of the small and medium enterprise sector in Georgia to identify key obstacles to SME development and to recommend specific improvements in the regulatory and administrative environment
